    50 YEAR ANNiVERSary poster

The assignment was to design a poster celebrating the CSU Art Building’s 50th Anniversary. The project brief required incorporating the number 50 as well as the years 1975 to 2025 into the final design. After creating several initial sketches, I decided to develop three distinct concepts. Each concept represented a different decade in the building’s history: the 1970s, reflecting the era in which the Art Building was constructed and completed; the 1980s, when the building was still relatively new and in its prime; and the 1990s, when it began to show signs of age and character. After receiving feedback and considering input from my peers, I ultimately chose to pursue the 1970s-inspired design, as it most strongly captured the spirit and historical significance of the building. Initially, I experimented with a warm yellow and orange color scheme commonly associated with 1970s design, but later decided to shift to Colorado State University’s original color palette to better connect the poster to the institution’s identity and heritage. This change helped ground the retro aesthetic in CSU’s visual history while maintaining a cohesive and intentional design.
